I am a highly experienced respiratory physiotherapist based in Exeter, Devon. My approach is person-centred and holistic, with sessions tailored to reflect each client’s needs. I am committed to delivering high-quality care, with treatments backed by the latest evidence.
Background
Since 1991, I have worked as a ward physiotherapist in various acute NHS trusts. I specialised in respiratory care in 1996 and trained in the management of breathing pattern disorders (BPD) in 2013.
Respiratory Clinics
I have run outpatient respiratory physiotherapy clinics at Torbay Hospital since 2016, helping clients, including tweens and teens, with a wide variety of conditions. These include asthma, long COVID, breathing pattern disorders, chronic cough, nasal problems, breathlessness management, and airway clearance.
COVID
I cared for patients with severe COVID during the pandemic at Torbay Hospital in the ICU and the ‘ COVID ward’. I started treating the first patients recognised as having long COVID in my virtual clinic in the Autumn of 2020 and continue to do so.
In 2024, I was the lead physiotherapist working alongside Dr Tim Robinson on the online Long COVID Rehabilitation Programme for South Devon. I strive to keep up to date with the latest research in this area to best support my clients.
Private and Bank Work
I took retirement from the NHS in February 2025 for a better work/life balance, but continue to run respiratory clinics at Torbay hospital on ‘the bank’.
Alongside my NHS role, I have been treating clients privately since 2022, enabling increased access to specialist respiratory physiotherapy care. I practise from the South West MS Centre in Exeter and also carry out home visits.
Qualifications
I have a Graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy, am registered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Health and Care Professions Council, am a member of the British Thoracic Society and the South West Asthma Network, and am a certified Bradcliff Breathing Method Practitioner.

Teaching
I have provided updates and training to the multidisciplinary respiratory team at Torbay Hospital and the South-West specialist physiotherapy clinical interest group. I recently delivered online training to a group of nurses and occupational therapists from Help for Heroes.
Network
I am an active member of the Physiotherapy for Breathing Pattern Disorders national network, the international group of certified Bradcliff Breathing practitioners, and our South West NHS physiotherapy clinical interest group in BPDs.
